Steven van de Vijver

Steven is a talented tropical doctor and writer. After working for MSF, where he is still a Board Member, he has completed his specialisation in family medicine and a Masters in International Health in order to focus his medical career on primary health care in slum settings. In order to gain experience and expertise in the sleeping giant of ‘slum medicine’ he moves to Nairobi with his family to write a PhD on cardiovascular diseases in the slums, which will be one of future’s major challenges in global health. Besides his medical activities Steven has published several successful books, some of them translated in English, and is writing a weekly column in a Dutch national newspaper.
