The end of the year is quickly drawing near, which provides the perfect opportunity to briefly look back on our activities over the past few months. At the same time, we look forward to 2012, when the Access to Medicine Index 2012 will be the focus of our attention.
Together with our Expert Review Committee, our near group of stakeholders and Supervisory Board, we’ve been working steadily on preparing the 2012 Index. As part of these efforts, we organized a webinar in November to provide all those involved at the pharmaceutical companies with a preview of the methodology for 2012. With our partner MSCI-ESG Research, we are now completing the methodology, which will be published in January.
In November, we also attended the ICIUM Conference in Turkey, where we introduced the Access to Medicine Index as policy tool to improve access to medicine in developing countries. We not only contributed to the debate, but also learned a lot from other ICIUM participants. We were glad to see how everyone openly shared their feedback with us.
Earlier this month, our new Supervisory Board came together in Amsterdam for the first time, which led to a fruitful dialogue about the Foundation’s strategic vision.
Over the past year, we have observed encouraging developments in the access to medicine debate. We are optimistic that viewpoints are clearly moving in a new direction. And we do hope to see these developments reflected when we publish Access to Medicine Index 2012 in September.
The ATMF Team wishes you a happy holiday season!
