In May the Index team met with over 30 representatives of the pharmaceutical industry representing 15 of the companies ranked in the Index. The roundtable meeting held in the Netherlands, was a milestone for the Index team and a strong indication of the growing relevance of the Index for pharmaceutical companies.
Topics that were debated were: issues concerning the data collection process for the Index 2012 and the need for, and challenges of, greater and more harmonised outcome reporting. Companies also shared their experiences on how the Index was received and is being used in defining and improving their ATM policies. Attached you will find the article ‘Big pharma is changing under pressure’ which was published in the Dutch newspaper the ‘Volkskrant’ afterwards.
A more recent engagement with a broad cross-section of the investor community also reported a strong turnout and issues discussed in addition to key methodological debates included the format of the key Index publications plus an update of current Foundation activities. The feedback we received during these exchanges was fed into the Expert Review Committee Meeting on 22 July.
