Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee provides independent advice to the Foundation. Membership on the Advisory Committee reflects the range of stakeholders sharing the objective of enhancing global access to medicine, including governments, investors, NGOs, academia and experts from the pharmaceutical industry. Members do not receive remuneration but are entitled to reimbursement of reasonable expenses.

Anthony Ruys

Thony Ruys is the Former CEO of Heineken NV. With more than 35 years of Marketing and General Management experience he now serves on a broad scala of Dutch and international boards.

During his career Thony lived with his family for 7 years in Colombia and 3 years in Italy, working for Unilever NV. He is currently a.o. Chairman of the Board of Schiphol Airport, The Rijksmuseum Foundation in Amsterdam and the Dutch Aids Fonds 'Stop Aids Now!'- Foundation. He is a non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco (UK) and of ITC Limited in Kolkat (India).

Arnoud Kuijpers

Arnoud Kuijpers is working as engagement partner with KPMG and in this capacity experienced with performance reporting and governance of multinational companies.

Originally served as a member of the board, Mr. Kuijpers has been involved with the Foundation since its inception. In his advisory role, Mr. Kuijpers acts as sounding board on strategic and financial matters, as well as expert in the field of corporate data reporting and governance matters.

Kwasi Boahene

Dr. Kwasi Boahene is a Senior Program Manager at the Health Insurance Fund. With extensive experience in international development, development economics, public health and HIV/AIDS, he has been a keen supporter of the Access to Medicine Index from the very beginning. 

His interests lie in how to stimulate co-operation between NGOs and the private sector; ensure that the Southern NGOs can use the Index for advocacy; and enhance the impact of the Index on access to medicine at local level.

Robert Berkelbach van der Sprenkel

Robert Berkelbach van der Sprenkel practices as an independent public affairs and communications professional. His experience builds on his years as Senior Advisor at the Ziekenfondsraad (NL) involved in pharmaceutical policy issues related to health Insurance, and as Public Affairs expert at MSD BV (untill early 2011). 

During the initial years of the Access to Medicine Foundation he played a role in creating trust in the Foundation and awareness for the opportunities of the Access to Medicine Index, both on the side of the pharmaceutical industry and vice versa on the side of the Foundation.

Prof. dr. Han van den Bosch

Former R&D Director Vaccines at several pharmaceutical companies. Currently professor at the Athena Institute of the Free University in Amsterdam on a chair ‘International Public Health and the Pharmaceutical Industry’.

Dr. Eduard Heinerman

Eduard Heinerman is an ENT- surgeon, currently working in private practice. As a medical specialist, Eduard is keenly aware of the importance of access to medicine in treating and preventing disease and illness throughout the world.

Previously, Eduard worked in academic hospitals as a head and neck surgeon most recently as the head of the educational department responsible for training young doctors. He is also a board member of SPMS (pension fund of medical specialists).
His support for the Access to Medicine Index centers around ESG principles for which the foundations stands.
