October 2010

  • Alcyone Finance, Northwest Ethical and Dexia AM  join global giant Amundi Asset Management as the latest financial institutions to become  signatories to the Access to Medicine Index.  These companies join several other leading institutional investors which have signed the Foundation’s investor statement, including Hermes, Robeco and Boston Common. To date, 27 worldwide investors have pledged their support for the Access to Medicine (ATM) Index, including original signatories such as Henderson, Aviva, F&C and PGGM. The signing of Alcyone, Northwest, Dexia AM and the IDEAM -Amundi Group brings the combined assets under management that have backed the Index to USD 3.3 trillion.

July 2010

  • The Lancet Infectious Diseases publishes an article outlining findings from the second Access to Medicine Index (ATMI) stating top pharmaceutical companies are engaging in more initiatives to improve access to medicines and are increasingly cooperative and transparent in sharing such information. The Lancet asks; "Could the world be witnessing a new era in shared social responsibility on access to medicines?"
  • Responsible Investor magazine, together with RiskMetrics Group and Access to Medicine Foundation host the panel discussion "Investment Risk and Opportunity in the Healthcare Market ,The Growing Importance of Access to Medicine as a Value Driver" to the institutional investment community on July 6, in London England. 

June 2010

  • June 28, 2010, the ATM Foundation and RMG present to an audience of WHO staff members and delegetes from pharmaceutical industry the methods and results of the Index. Dr. Hans V. Hogerzeil, director of the Department of Essential Medicines and Pharmaceutical Policies calls the Index ..." one of the important instruments in the improvement of access to medicine for the unprivileged people in developing countries.” 
  • Wim Leereveld, Founder and Chair of the ATM Foundation and Femke Markus, Managing Director are invited to join the Pacific Health Summit in London England. The Summit is a gathering of the most influential individuals in the global health sector.
  • News coverage surrounding the publication of the second Index is covered by the worldwide media with pieces appearing in New York Times, Financial Times, Economist, de Volkskrant as well as broadcast and online media throught America, Europe and Asia.
  • The second Access to Medicine Index is published on June 21.
  • Andy White, Access to Medicine Index Investor Relations, participated in the 9th Annual European Summit on Corporate Governance and Responsible Investment, held in Stockholm on 10th June
